Ambleside’s first Photographer    Active 1856-1894
Information about Moses & Helena’s children have been contributed by various of their
descendants. How they met has been suggested, but not confirmed.

One story is that the young Helena came to his studio on one of her visits to England,
though the surviving photographs do not appear to be taken in his studio.
That they met at least a decade before the death of his elderly wife is certain because
their first child was born in 1879 possibly as a result of meeting in London where he had
six photographs in the Royal Photography Society’s Exhibition of 1877.

They must have had a strong commitment to each-other as several more children
were born during the next decade although Moses continued to live in Ambleside.
They married about eighteen months after Isabella’s death.
